The project entitled Dutch Prints Online 1781-1800 is a collaborative project between the university libraries of Amsterdam and Leiden and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek.
University of Amsterdam Library
The University of Amsterdam Library, together with the faculty libraries, takes care of providing academic information in respect of education and research in the university, the Amsterdam Medical Centre and the Academic Centre for Dentistry in Amsterdam.
Furthermore, the University Library manages one of the biggest and most important historical collections in the Netherlands. Foundations for the library were laid in 1578, when books and manuscripts from Catholic institutions in Amsterdam that had fallen to the city’s administration, were amalgamated into a Municipal library. The paper collections contain old prints, manuscripts, maps, atlases, prints, photos, etc. There is an extensive collection of printed works dating from before 1850. In addition, there are many modern archives and collections, such as those in the fields of Book History, Hebrew and Jewish Studies, Protestant Studies and Medicine.
The University Library’s Digital Production Centre offers academics and knowledge organisations support in creating, providing and archiving electronic publications and databases.
The University Library has a particularly high level of ambition in terms of service and innovation. It keeps pace with developments in the IT field so that it can develop and offer new, especially digital services and products. The University Library also works closely with other academic libraries and organisations in the field of providing academic information both at home and abroad.

Leiden University Library
The University of Leiden Library, which was set up in 1575, is the oldest university library in the Netherlands.
The Leiden University Library supports education and research by means of a client-focussed and innovative service in terms of providing academic information. The services and expertise which the University Library offers cover the whole chain of information – from offering general, special and digital collections to making academic publications from the University of Leiden available globally in digital form.
The collections from Leiden are particularly rich and varied and to a significant extent unique in the Netherlands, especially in terms of collections from the Middle East and Asia, including mainly the Indian Subcontinent, China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia.
The Leiden University Library is also in possession of extensive, internationally-renowned special collections in the field of Western and Eastern manuscripts, (academic) archives, special and old prints, maps, atlases, prints, drawings and photos. The Scaliger Institute plays an important role in promoting research and education on the basis of the Leiden special collections and awards Brill and Scaliger Fellowships (among others) to researchers.
The Leiden University Library also participates in a number of innovative projects at the national and European level, particularly in the area of digital libraries, the dissemination of digital academic information and digital support for research processes.
